How do you handle it?

How do you handle the things of this world that come to kill, steal and destroy you? Do you spend your time worrying about the things you cannot change or do you take it to the Lord in prayer?

How do you handle heartbreak and disillusion? Do you decide to cut off people. Do you decide to separate yourself from people. Do you just give in and quit?

As I have lived and learned I have discovered how easy it is to make poor decisions when I am frustrated or scared. I have listened to the voices in my head and did some of the stupidest things you can imagine. I look back and realize I always knew the right thing to do but my frustrations clouded my judgement and my own mind conjured up the worst case scenarios and I felt pushed to decide right now. I have lived long enough to reap the sorrow associated with those decisions. I have also lived long enough to have learned some good stuff too.

Here is a scripture prayer to help you when you are faced with a decision. Every single line is a scripture, I have removed the links so it reads like a prayer but if you want the links, please send me a note.

“I say to myself, “The Lord is my God, and I trust him.””

“He helps tired people be strong. He gives power to those without it.”

“I called to the Lord, and he heard me. He heard my cries.”

“But I really believe that I will see the Lord’s goodness before I die. Wait for the Lord’s help. Be strong and brave, and wait for the Lord’s help.”

“Lord, help me learn your ways. Show me how you want me to live. Guide me and teach me your truths. You are my God, my Savior. You are the one I have been waiting for. Remember to be kind to me, Lord. Show me the tender love that you have always had.”

“But those who trust in the Lord will become strong again. They will be like eagles that grow new feathers. They will run and not get weak. They will walk and not get tired.”

“With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way.”

“Also, the Spirit helps us. We are very weak, but the Spirit helps us with our weakness. We don’t know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself speaks to God for us. He begs God for us, speaking to him with feelings too deep for words.”

“But the Lord said, “My grace is all you need. Only when you are weak can everything be done completely by my power.” So I will gladly boast about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s power can stay in me.”

“I say to the Lord, “You are my place of safety, my fortress. My God, I trust in you.””

“And because you belong to Christ Jesus, God’s peace will stand guard over all your thoughts and feelings. His peace can do this far better than our human minds.”

“God is strong and can keep you from falling. He can bring you before his glory without any wrong in you and give you great joy. He is the only God, the one who saves us. To him be glory, greatness, power, and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord for all time past, now, and forever. Amen.

“Praise the Lord forever! Amen and Amen!”
