“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

Good morning, good people. Today is Father’s Day — a day created by man to celebrate the fathers in our lives. The men who share our DNA and the ones who have created heart bonds. We honor those men today for their sacrifice of time, money, and spiritual gifts. We honor them for the prayers they have prayed over their families and friends. We honor them for picking up and dropping off kids at practice, dance, tea parties, and ballet. We honor the men who put cribs together, who drag strollers into men’s and women’s bathrooms amid a controversy that should be filled with courtesy and respect, not debate.

Some say we shouldn’t give people accolades for doing their job — but why not? Parenting is not easy, and being a father is even harder in my humble opinion. But God!

So today, I offer this prayer:

Our Father in heaven, watch over these men You have provided. Give them supernatural protection as they parent their children and as they leave their homes to earn a living. Watch over their minds and spirits, for we know that as a man thinks, so he is. Allow his thoughts to line up with Your vision for his life so he does not struggle in vain.

Father, You modeled fatherhood in Adam and in Jesus. Allow him to see You in his journey. Let his love reflect Yours — patient and kind, not boastful, not dishonoring others. Let his love be like Yours so he is slow to anger and keeps no record of wrongdoing.

I ask this prayer by faith, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
