When U Pray

It's not how you Pray, it's When U Pray

  • “Just as I was with Moses, I will be with you. No one will be able to stop you all your life. I will not abandon you. I will never leave you.

Remember, I commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.””
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:5, 9‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/jos.1.5,9.erv

You have to be strong and courageous, God talks about that in the Bible a lot. He reminds us to be strong because life is rough and if you are not strong, you can be defeated. Makes sense right? You also have to be courageous because it takes courage to keep getting up day after day and moving forward when you are scared to death. I know what all of this looks like, being strong and having courage and keeping moving because what else can you do.

God reminds us to be strong and courageous but, or And he said he will be with us wherever we go and I’m taking some liberties and saying in whatever we do. Many people will try to get you to believe God is only with you when you are doing what he says and how he says it, I didn’t read that, he said wherever you go. We are born of a woman and all will fall short of being perfect so he doesn’t require perfection. God wants us to be strong but we don’t have to carry it all, he wants us to be strong in our belief but he is our strength. So be strong in your way and let God be Strong in his way. Be courageous enough to trust God.

His word says ““Come to me all of you who are tired from the heavy burden you have been forced to carry. I will give you rest.”

    I love these scriptures
“But let those who trust in you be happy forever. Protect and strengthen those who love your name. Lord, when you bless good people, you surround them with your love, like a large shield that protects them.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭5:11-12‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/psa.5.11-12.erv

“I look at the heavens you made with your hands. I see the moon and the stars you created. And I wonder, “Why are people so important to you? Why do you even think about them? Why do you care so much about humans? Why do you even notice them?””
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭8:3-4‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/psa.8.3-4.erv

“God is the one who saves me. I trust him, and I am not afraid. The Lord YAH is my strength. He saves me, and I sing songs of praise about him. ””
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭ERV‬‬

    ‭‭

  • “We all have different gifts. Each gift came because of the grace God gave us. Whoever has the gift of prophecy should use that gift in a way that fits the kind of faith they have. Whoever has the gift of serving should serve. Whoever has the gift of teaching should teach. Whoever has the gift of comforting others should do that. Whoever has the gift of giving to help others should give generously. Whoever has the gift of leading should work hard at it. Whoever has the gift of showing kindness to others should do it gladly.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:6-8‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/rom.12.6-8.erv

I love God doesn’t require any of us to be alike. He made all of us differently and then encourages us to be filled with his gifts and joy and grace and mercy and love.

You don’t have to spend your time fitting in, you weren’t created for that, he gave you just what you need to be you. God created us all to be of use for the overall good of the world. He made butterflies and bumblebees, they both fly but they are created and born very differently and their purpose is different. Look at tigers and lions, they are both giant cats and I haven’t figured out their purpose yet but look how different they are? Look at boys and girls, they have the same parts but none are the same.

I make those comparisons to remind you that you were created for a reason and nothing that you have said or done, nothing that has been said to you or about you can change your destiny. Dare to be yourself. Don’t forget to dream, don’t forget to let your creativity flow. Remember that the same God that created the stars and the moon saw fit to create you.

Embrace it today, Dare to be you !!!!

  • “There is a right time for everything, and everything on earth will happen at the right time. There is a time to be born and a time to die. There is a time to plant and a time to pull up plants.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:1-2‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/ecc.3.1-2.erv

In everything we do there is a lesson. I’ve been learning life by living it and sharing my learnings with you. These are my truths not necessarily what is true for you, but I appreciate your time. In April I have buried two loved ones and those deaths has caused me to review what I have learned from staring into a casket.
The first thing I had to accept is that we all have to face this one day. The Lord himself said anyone born of a woman will die. It’s how you live that matters, it’s what people will remember about you that matters. Did you make an impact on others lives or where you a disruption? Be the kind of person that changes peoples lives.

“If you do these things, then those who are not believers will respect the way you live. And you will not have to depend on others for what you need.”
    ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/1th.4.12.erv

I also stared into those caskets and remembered that if you are in Christ, death on earth is not the end. If you died in Christ you have everlasting life and we mourn the passing of our loved ones but we can also rejoice that they lived their lives in such a way as to spend it in eternity with the Lord. Jesus died for sin so anyone who accepted him, they are with him.

“Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about those who have died. We don’t want you to be sad like other people—those who have no hope.”
    ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:13‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/1th.4.13.erv

The last thing I want to share is that how you spend your time matters. Don’t be consumed by earthly pleasures because one thing for sure, you can’t take anything with you. We buy all the stuff we see and spend our time working to buy things instead of spending the time enjoying our families and making memories. After you die, memories are all that remain for your loved ones, make them memorable.

“Anything my eyes saw and wanted, I got for myself. My mind was pleased with everything I did. And this happiness was the reward for all my hard work. But then I looked at everything I had done and the wealth I had gained. I decided it was all a waste of time! It was like trying to catch the wind. There is nothing to gain from anything we do in this life.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭2:10-11‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/ecc.2.10-11.erv

In conclusion, stay focused on what’s real and true. Mourn your loved ones and remember your time together. Lastly, don’t forget that we don’t mourn as people who have no hope, our Lord made a way for us to have everlasting life and that is reason to shout for Joy.

“There is a time to cry and a time to laugh. There is a time to be sad and a time to dance with joy.”
    ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:4‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/ecc.3.4.erv

    1. People will betray you. Don’t allow their actions to cause you to forget that all things work together for good to those that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. The actions of Judas appeared to be horrible but those actions ushered in the most impactful act of Christian life; Jesus death and resurrection.
    2. Not your will but Gods will for your life. Even on the cross Jesus asked God to remove his cup but he also asked that God would allow his will to be done. Jesus recognized that we don’t know the plan for the world but God does and if his will is done, we all Win.
    3. They may bet against you. They played dice to divide up Jesus garments, they bet against him but look what happened? They won clothes and slippers and we won eternal life. Let them bet against you, that’s not your business.
    4. There is life after the cross. Just like Jesus died and rose again, the situations in your life that appear dead, can be resurrected.
Let your faith guide you and you will realize nothing is impossible with God. God knows the plan and the end of the story has been written……We Won

“Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee,”
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:5-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/114/luk.24.5-6.nkjv

  • “Then Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a new linen cloth. He put Jesus’ body in a new tomb that he had dug in a wall of rock. Then he closed the tomb by rolling a very large stone to cover the entrance. After he did this, he went away.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:59-60‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/mat.27.59-60.erv

I rejoice today because as I thought about that tomb I was reminded that great things happened during the time Jesus spent in The Tomb. It is said that he went down to hell and took back the sting of death. It is assumes that he was preparing a place for you in heaven as he said he would.

“There are many rooms in my Father’s house. I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back. Then I will take you with me, so that you can be where I am.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭14:2-3‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/jhn.14.2-3.erv

In The Tomb Jesus was preparing for our future. If your situation looks dim, if your heart is broken and you can’t see it whole again, rejoice..if you have been let down and hurt, rejoice. If you have more bills than money and you are not sure of your future, rejoice. If your children are not acting like your vision or lining up with the word of God , Rejoice. If your marriage is going through troubled water, relax and remember who calms the waters, Rejoice. The time you spend in the tomb is not wasted, that is the place where you find out who YOU are, that’s the time you learn who God is to YOU.. that’s the place where you take the sting out of that THING that tried to take you out. The Tomb is an experience that we all face in our lives. Some of us are faced with a Tomb situation many times in our lives but it is meant to be a place of rest and healing because if you remember the story, it did not end at the tomb.,,

HE GOT UP! Hallelujah HE GOT UP. It says on the 3rd day, HE GOT UP. That tomb is not meant to be the end of the story.

“The angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid. I know you are looking for Jesus, the one who was killed on the cross. But he is not here. He has risen from death, as he said he would. Come and see the place where his body was. And go quickly and tell his followers, ‘Jesus has risen from death. He is going into Galilee and will be there before you. You will see him there.’” Then the angel said, “Now I have told you.””

    https://www.bible.com/406/mat.28.5-7.erv

  • Who committed their life to God and it seemed all hell broke loose? Yeah, for some reason that’s how it goes and it creates anxiety in the new believer. You start to think your prayer were not heard or you didn’t get the forgiveness or you didn’t get saved.
““I have told you all this so that you won’t lose your faith when you face troubles.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭16:1‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/jhn.16.1.erv

““When the Helper comes, he will show the people of the world how wrong they are about sin, about being right with God, and about judgment.

He will show them how wrong they are about how to be right with God. The Helper will do this, because I am going to the Father. You will not see me then.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭16:8, 10‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/jhn.16.8,10.erv

Don’t despair, once you accepted Jesus as your savior you were saved. The all hell breaking loose thing is real, the enemy is not pleased that you chose God. He didn’t care if you didn’t choose him he just didn’t want you to fully commit to God so he will send everything he has to distract you. You have to make it simple for yourself, trust God. This concept sounds simple because it is.
“Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way. Don’t trust in your own wisdom, but fear and respect the Lord and stay away from evil.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-7‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/pro.3.5-7.erv

God’s plans for your life is to give you a future and hope so when the enemy tries to frustrate you, remember that and remember that God is healing you, he is preparing you for all the things he has prepared for you. Everything will be revealed in time, it may not be tuhday but it’s working out for your good.

“In Christ we are made free by his blood sacrifice. We have forgiveness of sins because of God’s rich grace. God gave us that grace fully and freely. With full wisdom and understanding

I pray that God will open your minds to see his truth. Then you will know the hope that he has chosen us to have. You will know that the blessings God has promised his holy people are rich and glorious.”

  •   You ever wonder why it is so easy to give up on people?  How often have you said,  I’m done with that $@!#!@@, or I don’t have no more kickings for them,  or I forgive them but we done,  or have you ever heard this one,  I can love them from a distance.

God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So your new life should be like this: Show mercy to others. Be kind, humble, gentle, and patient. Don’t be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If you feel someone has wronged you, forgive them. Forgive others because the Lord forgave you.
    Colossians 3:12-13 ERV
    http://bible.com/406/col.3.12-13.ERV

Why not forgive them for real the way God forgives you? I know people hurt you,  but hurt people hurt people.  And I know you are not God or Jesus and forgiveness does not come easy but could you try? What could it hurt to offer someone something you expect? When you offer someone an apology don’t you want forgiveness? Or do you say I’m sorry just to be socially acceptable?

Many times people will let you down,  sometimes it is totally by accident,  sometimes they make a decision that negatively affects you but that does not make them a horrible person. Sometimes a person will make a series of bad choices,  it means they are human.

I’ve been reflecting on how loving each other,  trusting each other and forgiving each other can free you.   I’ve had to forgive people who hurt me because I couldn’t keep all that anger inside of me,  it was damaging my ability to love people who deserved my love.  I forgave them because I have not been perfect and I want God to forgive me.

Yes, if you forgive others for the wrongs they do to you, then your Father in heaven will also forgive your wrongs.
    Matthew 6:14 ERV
    http://bible.com/406/mat.6.14.ERV

This is a new year,  don’t bring anything negative with you.  Your destiny is waiting,  go forth and accept it with open arms,  don’t limit yourself because you are unforgiving. Love someone on purpose today.

Love never gives up on people. It never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits.

  • “So they are no longer two, but one. God has joined them together, so no one should separate them.””
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19:6‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/mat.19.6.erv

On my way to church today I had forgotten my wedding rings.. I turned around went back home and put them on. Yup, I was almost late because I didn’t have my rings on … I know I know the rings don’t make me married the relationship does, however; it’s what they represent that matters.

This month my husband and I celebrate 31 years married and 41 together, what an accomplishment, but I can’t take the credit. When I walked in the door at church one of the gentleman asked me how we stayed married this long? I told him it was a hot mess, we messed up a lot, we got some stuff right and some things went so wrong it destroyed us over and over but here we are. I told him, I thank God that both of us never gave up at the same time.

No relationship is perfect, binding two lives together does not happen at the wedding. The wedding is for the family and friends to experience a huge party to celebrate a decision to join together. The marriage starts the day after the wedding. Learning to live together, to share experiences and solve problems helps to create the foundation. For me and my family, all that was good but it was raggedy until we asked God to join with us. It was the power of God that allowed me to heal enough from my youth to accept love from my husband. It took God to help him heal the broken places in him that helped him to be a good husband. It took God to bind us closer and heal together from the the things we did to hurt each other. Let’s be transparent here, hurt people hurt people now matter how much they love each other. This was not an easy or painless process, this took some hard conversations a lot of forgiveness and a whole lot of mercy. I can honestly admit I would not have been unable to do this in my own power but with the power of God, I have a marriage I always dreamed about.
My marriage prior to God was good too, we laughed and had fun and parented our child but the lack of God allowed a whole lot of mess to become more important than what was important.
I will admit, I brought my mamas values to my marriage. My mama was devastated in both of her marriages, she was cheated on and walked away from that marriage into the arms of an abuser and tormentor. My entire life she taught me not to trust a man, not to depend on anyone but myself, not to let my left hand know what the right was doing, it was ingrained in me from my earliest childhood. Fast forward, I’m married to a different man (still a man) we helped raise each other, 15 years old and not even aware of how to be individuals let alone a couple but we survived and had a baby at 17 our own home etc but his father was a hustler and a womanizer and he wanted to emulate him and my mom was a hustler and I wanted nothing to do with that life. You see the problems right .. train wreck .. but we survived and when we added God.. we thrived.

So yeah I went back to get my rings, I don’t want anyone to think for one second we not tight.. and i could be mad as hell and not talking to him but I’ll be mad with my rings on. Him and have committed to cool down, talk it out and work through it, because that’s the promise we made to each other.
So I say, ask God into your marriage and heal anything that’s broken.
“and if my people who are called by my name become humble and pray, and look for me, and turn away from their evil ways, then I will hear them from heaven. I will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

  • “Give to others, and you will receive. You will be given much. It will be poured into your hands—more than you can hold. You will be given so much that it will spill into your lap. The way you give to others is the way God will give to you.””
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:38‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/luk.6.38.erv

Man, I’ve always seen this scripture in the King James Version and it is normally used in reference to finances and blessings. God has allowed me to look at this from the view of giving to others and the meaning becomes so much richer and deeper.
I’m a relational person so when I can understand a concept from a relationship perspective I can apply it to my life.
Looking at the scripture it says give to others and you will receive much more and it goes on to remind us that the way you give to others also determines how you receive. That is thought provoking for me. It makes me think, if I give freely, with a good heart, I will receive the same way and, if I give grudgingly I may not receive anything. Hmmmm I used this same logic and applied it to the way I pray and think about others. If pray blessings and goodwill I will receive blessings and goodwill but if I prey (not praying) on others, well I can expect to preyed upon in some form.

For me, I’m going to remember that my actions have a direct affect on the outcome of any situation. I’m going to remember to stay focused on what is good and true so that my thoughts toward others will be positive and life affirming.
“Brothers and sisters, continue to think about what is good and worthy of praise. Think about what is true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected.”

I will love freely and openly, I will forgive easily and forget what others have done to me, that’s on them, I’m not holding it. I’m going to let love be my guide, it’s just easier. “Most important of all, love each other deeply, because love makes you willing to forgive many sins.”

I will remember that my actions reflect my heart and that there are always consequences, good or bad. I want good things in my life.

  • “Do any of you need wisdom? Ask God for it. He is generous and enjoys giving to everyone. So he will give you wisdom.”

Do you feel swamped by life and unsure of what to do next? How to continue? Do you find yourself stuck or unsure of your purpose? Me too.
During Bible study we have been reading the book of James, he provides some very practical tips on how to live your life. In the first chapter he reminds you that you will have in trouble in this world but not to despair because God uses that trouble to strengthen your faith. If you remember you don’t need a lot of faith, just a tiny amount of Faith and the Lord will perfect it through your trials and triumphs and make you mature and complete. Good news right? I think so, it kind of reminds you that all things work together for the good to those that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. So, as you are faced with trials remember that they will strengthen you, they will work out in your favor and the best thing to remember is you are never alone, God is with you and will fight your battles if you trust him.

The next sentence in this book just gives me joy: “But when you ask God, you must believe. Don’t doubt him. Whoever doubts is like a wave in the sea that is blown up and down by the wind.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/jas.1.6.erv

Trust Him… it sounds easy doesn’t it? Just Trust HIM! The first sentence reminds you to believe what you ask for and never doubt. That truly defines FAITH, no doubt.

I said all that to say this, if you need answers, if you need direction, if you need to know anything, Ask God. He has committed to giving you wisdom.

The next sentence or two is not from God but from me. Ask him for what you need but remember, the answer may not look like what you were thinking. I have often asked God to show me something or he’ll me with something and if my faith had wavered I would have missed amazing blessings because my ideas, dreams, wishes, hopes and prayers never manifested like I was expecting, but I received what I needed.

So, with all that being said.. With Faith, there will be no lack!

  • ““And when you pray, don’t be like the people who don’t know God. They say the same things again and again. They think that if they say it enough, their god will hear them. Don’t be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:7-8‬ ‭ERV‬‬
    https://www.bible.com/406/mat.6.7-8.erv

Oftentimes we are intimidated by people who we think “they can really pray” and it’s true, they have learned how to add scripture to prayer to improve their prayer life and that’s good. However, it is not mandatory.
Don’t be intimidated by prayer, God is faithful and he hears the fervent effective prayers of his people. God knows who you are and what you need, he just wants you to talk to him, he wants you to work on the relationship you have with him. Keep your prayers sincere and God will honor that.
I was struggling with this subject and I prayed and cried out to God to help me understand because I wanted to make sure my prayers get to him. I need God desperately in many areas of my life and I didn’t want to get it wrong. As I tossed and turned I keep asking him to help me understand and this scripture was revealed to me. Yes, I know it by heart and I’ve read it and recited it but this night it came alive for me. I was reminded that Jesus had already addressed this concern (this was in Red, so Jesus said it, not Paul, Peter, John or James) this was from the source. I was reminded that Jesus prayed this very prayer so it was sanctified and spoke to my every need.
“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:9-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Got it? Me too I was reminded I don’t need to be a Bible scholar for God to hear me. But we do thank God for the scholars.

  • There was a time when I believed that everyone who lived in a big beautiful home could afford it. I assumed all marriages were built on love and respect and could survive anything. I believed that all parents loved their children and wanted what was best for them, even when they could not give it to them. I assumed that people had the capacity to love and would do so freely.

Time and circumstances has changed my view on all of those things as I watched people mentally destroy themselves to keep up a front for others, robbing Peter to pay Paul and making horrible decision to maintain a facade. I have watched people stay married to people they despise because it looks good or because the marriage provides financial security filled with mental and physical abuse. I have seen parents pour hatred and despair into their children because of the lives they chose. I have seen parents physically and mentally abuse those kids in frustration and despair. I have seen people full of self loathing attack others to create havoc and despair.

Seeing all of this could cause me to lose hope and attempt to do unto others as they have done to me but naaaahhhhh I’ve chosen to live my life a bit differently, I chose to give my life to Jesus  so I would not fall into the same traps.  I realized I do not have the power to change the world, but I could change me, with the help of my Lord and Savior.

  • Well, this is me, starting 2021 with a fresh perspective and a fresh anointing for us. I’ve been slacking in my blogging due to a variety of things, but I’m back. I have partnered with another blogger to be my accountability partner and just talking to her about my block restarted my thought process as my relationship with the Lord refreshes my spirit.
“Also, the Spirit helps us. We are very weak, but the Spirit helps us with our weakness. We don’t know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself speaks to God for us. He begs God for us, speaking to him with feelings too deep for words.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:26‬ ‭ERV‬‬

I’ve struggled with getting my thoughts onto the page and that’s unusual for me, normally I start thinking on something and the words just flow out, so when that stopped happening, I stopped writing. I’m making a commitment to get back to it. To trust that the Holy Spirit will send the words to my page that will encourage the people of God and the people seeking God.

In the meantime I leave you with this message from God,
“Be strong and be brave. Don’t be afraid of those people because the Lord your God is with you. He will not fail you or leave you.””
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:6‬ ‭ERV‬‬

  • “God looked at everything he had made. And he saw that everything was very good. There was evening, and then there was morning. This was the sixth day.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:31‬ ‭ERV‬‬

  • “David said, “All these plans were written with the Lord guiding me. He helped me understand everything in the plans.”
‭‭lf God does not approach life randomly, neither should we. Have a plan for your life, family and business. Allow God to guide you. Be graceful with yourself. God is always intentional. He did it for David he will do it for you and me!!!
