When U Pray

It's not how you Pray, it's When U Pray

  • “Also, God’s kingdom is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. One day he found a very fine pearl. He went and sold everything he had to buy it. (Matthew 13:45, 46 ERV)

The finest quality natural pearls have been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty for many centuries, and because of this, the word pearl has become a metaphor for something very rare, fine, admirable, and valuable.

Your heart and spirit reminds me of how pearls are made. People see pearls as beautiful, perfect gems, but never realize that they actually come from pain–from something sharp or dangerous getting trapped inside an oyster where it doesn’t belong, the oyster makes a pearl to protect itself. Pearls are almost indestructible, you never hear these words “my pearl shattered”, “my pearl fell and broke”, nope they are strong, just like you. Pearls are strung on thread that may break. If your string breaks you reach down, gather your pearls up and restring it. You may not know the actual order they were in before the string broke but you would add reinforcements so it does not break again. Jesus does the same for us, we don’t break but our string might. We get tired from dealing with things at work, having no work, husbands, being single, things at home, bills, kids, more bills than money, drug addiction, alcoholism, fear and rejection. I could go on and on but I think you get it. Jesus reaches down, grabs all our pearls and restrings us, stronger and rearranged in a way to make us better.

These words from Mary J Blige “Stronger with each tear”, speaks to what I’m thinking.
You’re much more than a struggle that you go through

You’re not defined by your pain, so let it go…

    You’re not a victim, you’re more like a winner

And you’re not in defeat, you’re more like a queen
    In each tear

    there’s a lesson,

    Makes you wiser than before

Makes you stronger than you know ,

In each tear Brings you closer to your dreams

    No mistake, no heartbreak

Can take away what you’re meant to be!

  • 2017 is the year of love! It’s the year of believing love is enough, it’s the year of knowing that Love does vanquish hate. “Do everything in love.”‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16:14‬ ‭ERV‬‬

    http://bible.com/406/1co.16.14.erv

Love has been discussed, explained and defended since the beginning of time. What does it mean to you? Have you ever sat down and thought about the way you love? What you need from love? Have you ever asked yourself If you understand love? Me too!

I was evaluating love, really thinking about how often I say “I love you”. It’s a lot, I say it to family, friends and a few co-workers, but does it really mean love, like real love? I think it does, there is romantic love, familia love and friendship, all are different types of love and come with a variety of expectations.
Love has a responsibility to be blameless and enduring. Once you have created a bond of love you are responsible for it. It can’t be dependent on how the other person treats you. Love stands alone, it cannot be not tied to expectations or requirements. If I tell you I love you, I do. If you don’t love me back, that is your right but it won’t change my love for you. Love has to be set free from other people’s expectations.
“Love never gives up on people. It never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits.”‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:7‬ ‭ERV‬‬

    http://bible.com/406/1co.13.7.erv
Be responsible for your love, give it freely and expect nothing in return.

“Love is never happy when others do wrong, but it is always happy with the truth.”‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:6‬ ‭ERV‬‬

    http://bible.com/406/1co.13.6.erv

If you choose the path of love, remember love is its own reward.

““If you love only those who love you, should you get any special praise for doing that? No, even sinners love those who love them!”‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:32‬ ‭ERV‬‬

    http://bible.com/406/luk.6.32.erv

    I choose love

  • You didn’t cheat on me, you cheated yourself. You didn’t believe in yourself so you searched for validation through sexual gratification.
You didn’t devalue me, you devalued my love for you. Because you don’t love yourself, you couldn’t believe I loved you either.
You didn’t create me, so no matter how long we are together and no matter how many experiences we share, you cannot define me.
If you make a bad decision, learn from it. Don’t take bad behavior and wear it like a badge of honor. There is no honor in dishonesty, there is no honor in disloyalty, there is no honor in brokenness.
Until you learn to love yourself, Until you understand who you are, you should give love a break, self love is the most important thing you can give yourself. Hurt people, hurt people. Allow time for healing before you invite anyone else into your life.
Apologizing to someone after you shatter their life is like asking water to flow backwards or asking the moon to rise at noon. Of course people forgive because, it’s a must if you want to be whole again but you can’t unsay the mean thing, you can’t uncheat nor can you unbeat.
“Try to do what is good for others, not just what is good for yourselves.”

    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:24‬ ‭ERV‬‬

  • Our women’s ministry is currently involved in a 7 week secret sister fellowship. When we started I was a little apprehensive about it, wondering if people would really participate and how it would look.

It’s called Sister, I see you. The intent is to pray someone else, pour into someone you would not normally pray for. Reach out to a sister you may not know and encourage them. The guidelines are pretty doable, it’s like pray for them this week, pray for their family, but a small token gift etc. weellllll

These women have blessed me. I have seen an amazing outpouring of love and kindness shown by women old and young. Some of the women participating are the Mothers of the church, some are new members and some didn’t want to do it but stepped out on faith. I’ve had the pleasure of passing gifts back and forth to maintain anonymity and seeing the faces of these women when they are acknowledged is just a blessing. I was reminded of this scripture.

“Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.”

    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Sister, I see you and I’m impressed.

  • “He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.””
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭46:10‬ NIV http://bible.com/111/psa.46.10.niv

Life falling apart? Feel as if you can’t catch a break? At loose ends at home at work and at play? Your ministry is not prospering? Your prayers have dried up? Your health appears to be failing? All these things are part of the natural order of things. Nothing good lasts forever right? Well nothing bad does either. God said there is a time for everything and this is that time for you.

You are probably wondering what in the world am I talking about? I’m talking about that time where you get to prove what it is you say that you believe. That time where you have to let the Word that is inside of you be manifested in your life.
“Lord, those who know your name come to you for protection. And when they come, you do not leave them without help.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭9:10‬ ‭ERV‬‬

    http://bible.com/406/psa.9.10.erv

“Give all your worries to him, because he cares for you. Control yourselves and be careful! The devil is your enemy, and he goes around like a roaring lion looking for someone to attack and eat. Refuse to follow the devil. Stand strong in your faith. You know that your brothers and sisters all over the world are having the same sufferings that you have. Yes, you will suffer for a short time. But after that, God will make everything right. He will make you strong. He will support you and keep you from falling. He is the God who gives all grace. He chose you to share in his glory in Christ. That glory will continue forever.”‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:7-10‬ ‭ERV‬‬

    http://bible.com/406/1pe.5.7-10.erv

I posted Gods Word to emphasize that  you chose to follow Him and to give your life to Jesus, now watch them work. Trust the process, trust that he is working things out for you. Trust that you don’t have to worry about what you eat or drink or wear. Trust that he is with you. Trust that he knows the plans he has for you to give you a future. Trust that he is God and cannot lie. No matter what it looks like, Trust him. I know it sounds easy but I know it’s hard. I know what it feels like to be hopeless, but I know he can restore your hope. I know what it feels like to be defeated but I know he can turn that around. I know what it feels like to be scared and depressed, but I know he can keep you safe and make you whole. Now I need you to know, and the only way that can happen is if you Trust that our God is Bigger than any problem you face. Trust that he will make a way for you. Trust that he is intentional in his will for you.. sing with me oooo O ooh , oooooO oooh oh oh oooO. All things are working for my good, he’s intentional, all things are working for my good…oooooO ooh..

“So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.

Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ.”

  • The other day I was so frustrated with my prayer that I did not know what to do. I sat down to pray and no words would come, of course that made me even more frustrated. I was thinking about my problems, my cares and my concerns, and not the problem solver. I had lost track of my responsibility for the blink of an eye. I know that concentrating on the problem feeds the negative. I knew I needed to stop the cycle of feeding the monster. Fear, doubt, frustration, anger, envy, strife, crazy people, family problems, personal problems, other people problems, lack of self esteem, these are all monsters.

I sat down and asked myself, what did God say about prayer? He answered:

“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. (‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭8-13‬ NKJV)

This whole prayer speaks of Trusting Him. Let him handle this “Thing” for you, whatever it is he has said he knows what you have need of. His will be done! Hallelujah
The devil thought he had me best because my head was down, but he realized his error when I lifted my head and said “Amen”

  • I know it gets hard, life is crazy and it seems like your problems are taking over your life, you can’t sleep, you can’t concentrate and no one understands. There is sickness in your mind or body and you can’t seem to catch a break, every day you are hurting or you get more bad news. I know depression is kicking in and you have days so dark you can’t see tomorrow or sometimes the rest of the day. But there is hope .. praise God there is hope.
“This hope is like an anchor for us. It is strong and sure and keeps us safe. It goes behind the curtain.”‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6:19‬ ‭ERV‬‬

I say all that to encourage you. To remind you that no matter what your situation looks like God is with you. God is able to protect you from anything, he is bigger than your problems.

“You can go to God Most High to hide. You can go to God All-Powerful for protection. I say to the Lord, “You are my place of safety, my fortress. My God, I trust in you.”

Find a place where you can sit quietly, close your eyes, just sit there. Ok open your mind, begin to talk to God, tell him your worries, share your fears. Close your eyes, stop looking around, this is important. Close your eyes, breathe in then breathe out. No worries, no distraction. Just sit there listen for the wind, feel the air on your skin. Just breathe, in then out, in then out, quiet.shhhhhhh can you hear him, yes that is God speaking to your heart, speaking to your situation. The first few times will seem odd and may feel strange. It’s new, but it’s worth it. Whatever he tells you during these quiet times, count on it.
“These two things cannot change: God cannot lie when he says something, and he cannot lie when he makes an oath. So these two things are a great help to us who have come to God for safety. They encourage us to hold on to the hope that is ours.”‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6:18‬ ‭ERV‬‬

  • From WhenUpray.com. It was worth a repeat.  I don’t know what it’s original title was but I know it was worth hearing.

Wives, be willing to serve your husbands. This is the right thing to do in following the Lord. (Colossians 3:18 ERV)

If you talk to me for any length of time you will hear me talk about my husband. If you hear me talk about him a lot you will probably start to think that I believe he is perfect. I’m not kidding, he is a great husband. But don’t be mislead, that does not mean he is without flaws. Often when I tell people we have been together for 30+ years people think we stayed together because it’s been nearly perfect. Oh no, don’t believe that, it’s been far from perfect, in fact if you’ve been around us a long time you might question our sanity. lol trust me, I love him and he completes me.

    What I’ve learned:
Wives, be willing to serve your husbands the same as the Lord. A husband is the head of his wife, just as Christ is the head of the church. Christ is the Savior of the church, which is his body. (Ephesians 5:22, 23 ERV)

It was a painful lesson, (head down, humbled). I used to complain about what was wrong with him (only because I was perfect) and focus on what he wasn’t doing. That was just plain dumb but hey, I did not know any better. There were very few married couples in my family and the ones that were married probably shouldn’t have been. IJS so I did not have any examples to guide me, there was no YouTube to help me. I spent so much time complaining about what was wrong that I missed what was right. He made some bad choices when we were younger and I did too. God reminded me of something important, my husband loves me. Oh yes he does and he will do anything to make sure I’m ok, my daughter and I helped define him and he cherishes our love.

When I found this scripture I knew I had found a definition of my husband.
And husbands should love their wives like that. They should love their wives as they love their own bodies. The man who loves his wife loves himself, because no one ever hates his own body, but feeds and takes care of it. And that is what Christ does for the church (Ephesians 5:28, 29 ERV)
I challenge each of you, go back and remember why you said Yes to your husband. Catalog all the things that you love about them and all the things that they do to make you better. Don’t write a list of what they do wrong, who cares, if you trust God (and I know you do) he is working on that man just like he is working on you. You can’t rush God to make him better, he is already great and God will just smooth the edges and heal the wounds so his greatness can shine brighter. Be the light that God created you to be so he can find his way home if he gets lost. These streets are rough, life can wear on you with bills, kids, aging parents and so much more.

But each one of you must love his wife as he loves himself. And a wife must respect her husband. (Ephesians 5:33 ERV)

  • God, you give true peace to people who depend on you, to those who trust in you. So trust the Lord always, because in the Lord YAH you have a place of safety forever. (Isaiah 26:3, 4 ERV)
It sounds so easy when people tell you “Pray about it”, “you have to cast your worries to The Lord” , girl, “Take it to the alter and leave it there”. All those sayings begin to sound like Charlie Browns mom wasaawaaawaawaa
Reality check, what does trusting The Lord look in real life? Many of us come into our relationship with God with major trust issues, we have been let down over and over by the people in our lives. We actually give God the same characteristics of the people we have encountered in our lives. We think we have to prove our love with deeds, that we have to beg and barter for his love and protection. We feel that once we mess up he won’t trust us or bless us anymore. We feel that God will get tired of us messing up and give up. Well, speaking from personal experience none of that is true, but the devil will tell you that and will keep reminding you of your faults. Trusting God for me came through trial and tribulation, one day I knew I had to change my thinking because everything I was doing was making the situation worse. I sat down and prayed, then I waited on the word from God to show up. He sent people at my job with a message, at the grocery store, random people I encountered, all with the same message, none knowing of my prayer. He confirmed his answer to me and it was simply this, Trust Him! So I did and I’ve never regretted it. It’s not easy to admit your powerless in a situation until you realize God has all the power you need. So go ahead let God be strong and you just trust him.
I want them to be strengthened and joined together with love and to have the full confidence that comes from understanding. I want them to know completely the secret truth that God has made known. That truth is Christ himself. I tell you this so that no one can fool you by telling you ideas that seem good, but are false. You must depend on Christ only, drawing life and strength from him. Just as you were taught the truth, continue to grow stronger in your understanding of it. And never stop giving thanks to God. (Colossians 2:2, 4, 7 ERV)
    This is a repost

  • I was on my iPhone face-timing with my daughter, my love.. All I could think was “She is so beautiful”. She said mama, is it like looking in a mirror when you see me? I said no, you are beautiful. My husband gave me the Ted bear look and asked “you think you are ugly?” He then went on to say “nobody who takes as many selfie as you could think they were ugly.”
I had to think about that, I don’t think I’m ugly, that’s for sure but when I look at my daughter I see a beautiful person, not just the way her features line up on her face but her spirit and her heart shining through making her beautiful to me.
When I look at myself in the mirror I often see what I have been through. I see the pain, the disappointment, the molestation, the despair, the heartbreak and my destructive actions. I know God has healed those places in me but there are still ruts and scars where the unholiness of the world met my Godly form. It’s like getting stitches, when they remove the thread, there is a noticeable scar to remind you of that thing.
I think of the woman in the Bible with the issue of blood, in my mind it’s not just that she is bleeding from her women parts, it seems she is bleeding from her soul. She has given everything to this THING. This thing drained her of her ambition, her pride, her joy and her hope. This THING left her broken and down to her last coherent thought. Has that ever been you? Have you had that THING that happened to you or THING that you caused become bigger than you? It could be so many things, that man/woman who was all bad and you knew it, but nobody made you feel like that. It could be drugs, alcohol, depression, suicidal thoughts, molestation, physical abuse, shoplifting, sexual devience, that THING, you know what it is or was. Let’s be real
You are not the only person in your life affected by that THING. Everyone you encounter after that THING happens  is processed through what you have been through. You don’t love the same anymore, you don’t trust people or things anymore. You may lose some of your shine or you smile is not as wide. Everything you see is filtered through that THING.

But that’s not the end of the story, praise God

This passage is used repeatedly by everyone because it is so appropriate. If you would allow your soul to speak for you it would tell you to give it to Jesus, it would remind you that there is enough healing in the hem of his garment to heal you.  Your soul is screaming, GET ME TO JESUS. Your soul knows if you get it to Jesus it’s gone be alright.

“But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.”‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    http://bible.com/1/mat.9.22.kjv

Your healing in Jesus is immediate, he said from that hour and it was so. So I challenge you today, if you gave your life to Jesus, or you want to, let go. Let go of the THING that he forgave you from but you won’t forgive yourself. Forgive your abusers for they are not worth the rest your life. Let it go, if you are anything like me, I need forgiveness so I’m giving it out in bunches.

“But if you don’t forgive others, then your Father in heaven will not forgive the wrongs you do.”‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:15‬ ‭ERV‬‬

  • For all the men and women battling cancer,  life threatening or long term illness, suffering in silence. let me encourage you, let me speak life to you.
“I love you, Lord! You are my strength. The Lord is my Rock, my fortress, my place of safety. He is my God, the Rock I run to for protection. He is my shield; by his power I am saved. He is my hiding place high in the hills. I called to the Lord for help, and he saved me from my enemies! He is worthy of my praise! Death had its ropes wrapped around me. A deadly flood was carrying me away. The ropes of the grave wrapped around me. Death set its trap right there in front of me. In my trouble I called to the Lord. Yes, I cried out to my God for help. There in his temple he heard my voice. He heard my cry for help.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭18:1-6‬ ‭ERV‬‬ http://bible.com/406/psa.18.1-6.erv
I think of that Whitney Houston song, I look to you, she says when all my strength is gone, in you I can be strong, I look to you. That’s what we have to do when we come under attack, look to him.

I can’t imagine the terror when the doctor discloses your diagnosis. I can’t imagine the hopelessness or panic when you begin to think of the impact on your body, mind, spirit. The impact on your family, your finances and your job. The impact on your relationships with people. I can’t imagine the helplessness you would feel when you become physically unable to help yourself or how the thought of being let down by the people you need to rely on. People will disappoint you because they are human. The scary thing is any disappointments would seem to be exaggerated because of the severity of what you are going through. I can’t imagine the thoughts running through your mind.

Fake it till you make it right? People are always willing to tell you how to overcome big problems, but it’s not the big problem that you need help with. How do you deal with the everyday problems, the problems that appear normal to others but are wearing you out? One thing after another is happening, how do you do it? Example, you and your significancant other can’t get along for nothing, all of sudden you are arguing about stupid stuff. Bills, bills and more bills. Everybody need shoes or you look up and everybody is flooding, now they need pants but Consumers wants their money too. Add in a kid who is acting a plum fool, every day the school is calling for something. The car needs tires, tags, battery or something and your parents are getting older and need you more and more. Nothing big,  just a bunch of little things and now your pants don’t fit either and there is no time to work out so they are too tight or no time to eat so they are bagging. Work is crazy, you can’t be late again, can’t leave again and you hate your boss and a raise would not hurt. It’s always something.
It appears everybody in the Bible needed that Big Thing , God showed up and boom, their life was changed. But you just need a little thing, you need a break.
After you get tired of being sick and tired you turn over, roll down to your knees and bow your head right? You start praying and telling Jesus how you feel and boom,You are reminded of what He said:
“Jesus said to his followers, “So I tell you, don’t worry about the things you need to live—what you will eat or what you will wear.
None of you can add any time to your life by worrying about it. And if you can’t do the little things, why worry about the big things?”‭‭Luke‬ ‭12:22, 25-26‬ ‭ERV‬‬ http://bible.com/406/luk.12.22,25-26.erv

Don’t worry about it, sound familiar? The phrase sounds so easy, because it is. Trust that Jesus really knows what you need. Do this, think back to every crazy situation in your life and ask yourself “What did I do to make it right?” When I did that, I realized I had never solved anything in my life, I made a few things worse but it wasn’t until Jesus stepped in that it was truly resolved.

“So, my dear brothers and sisters, stand strong. Don’t let anything change you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord. You know that your work in the Lord is never wasted.”‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:58‬ ‭ERV‬‬http://bible.com/406/1co.15.58.erv
    Be encouraged,

“I will call to God for help, and the Lord will save me.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭55:16 ERV http://bible.com/406/psa.55.16.erv

  • “And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved.’”‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬http://bible.com/114/act.2.21.nkjv

Whatever you are going through remember, you are just going through that thing, it’s not your destiny. Time after time the Bible God refers to things that have come to pass. He tells you about the thing that happened and then he reminds you that, it came to Pass. That means you survived.. oh yeah..it came to pass.

“Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He.”

    ‭‭John‬ ‭13:19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬http://bible.com/114/jhn.13.19.nkjv

God has given us joy, he wants us to live life full of joy. He wants us to understand that the things we deal with are not designed to break us but to strengthen us. He wants us to be joyful and accept that all things are working for our good. He wants us to trust him. Trust that if he did it for them ( the people in the Bible) that he will do it for us. He will fight our battles, he will restore our health, he will restore our marriage, he will get us a new job, he will save our house, he will protect our children, he will provide for all our needs.

““These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”‭‭John‬ ‭15:11‬ ‭NKJV

So I ask that you do a few things for yourself:

    1. write down what you are dealing with. Write it down, see if on 📝 paper it still looks as big as your mind made it.

    2. Fold up that paper, and pray over it. Ask God to handle this thing for you. Pray over it and then wait on God.

“And then GOD answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time.”‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭2:2MSG‬‬ http://bible.com/97/hab.2.2-3.msg

Then I want you to get up and praise God. Praise him because it is coming.. your breakthrough is on the way. Trust God, don’t trust me. I’m telling you what God can do because I’m not in the Bible but he did it for me. He loves you just as much as he loves anybody else.

“And it came to pass, when Abraham’s servant heard their words, that he worshiped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.”‭‭Genesis‬ ‭24:52‬ ‭NKJV‬‬http://bible.com/114/gen.24.52.nkjv

    I’m all the way up

With the faith of three, I say no matter what my situation looks like I will hold fast to my profession of faith; I will trust God and I will stand on what I know. I will not give in to the pressure, I will not be deterred, I will not be defeated by my situation. I will not allow the false gods of this world to determine my joy…it comes from the Lord.

    I’m all the way up!
“If you throw us into the hot furnace, the God we serve can save us. And if he wants to, he can save us from your power. But even if God does not save us, we want you to know, King, that we refuse to serve your gods. We will not worship the gold idol you have set up.””‭‭Daniel‬ ‭3:17-18‬ ‭ERV‬‬
